A Memorable Season for Our Hardriven Ambassadors: Magalie Houle and Alice Lavallée
Share
All summer long, Magalie Houle and Alice Lavallée trained hard, but always with joy. Their legendary fighting spirit often allows them to win rallies that seem impossible. While they may not dominate with height, their talent and ball control make them a formidable pair. Their sharp court vision, constant communication, and ability to lift each other up are at the heart of their success.
A Silver Medal at the Provincials in Montreal
Throughout the season, Magalie and Alice worked hard while keeping fun at the center of their game. Their impressive court reading, tenacity, and chemistry make them a team to watch.
At the Provincial Championship held at Plage Celtique in Montreal, they battled their way to the final and proudly earned a silver medal—confirming both their progress and their place among the best in their category.

Nationals: A Tournament of Courage and Friendship
Their season then took a dramatic yet inspiring turn at the Canadian Nationals 15U in Toronto.
Thanks to their second place at the provincial, they were directly placed in Tier 1. The tournament began with two strong wins, showing they were ready to compete at the highest level.

But in their third match, disaster struck: Magalie suffered a serious injury—shoulder dislocation. The medical advice was clear: stop immediately, forfeit the match, and reassess the next day. A huge disappointment, especially since it was one of the most anticipated matches of the tournament.
The next morning, despite the pain, Magalie chose to keep playing. In a remarkable gesture of solidarity, Alice wore shoulder tape as well, adding a layer of strategy and confusion since word of the injury had spread. This moment highlighted just how deep their bond runs, far beyond the game itself.

Their courage drew support from many of the other Quebec teams present, creating an incredible atmosphere of encouragement. Alice, already outstanding in her play, stepped up as a true rock for her partner—on and off the sand.
Then came a defining moment: despite the injury, they defeated Zabie Biss-Mantziounis and Alexis Spehr—the team that would go on to win the gold medal the very next day. In a thrilling, chess-like battle, they triumphed 21-19 / 12-21 / 15-13. A victory that will be remembered for years to come.
Ultimately, the injury and the strain of playing through it meant they had to continue in Tier 2, finishing 11th overall out of 29 teams. But their true achievement went far beyond the rankings.

A Duo to Watch
Their story of perseverance, teamwork, and courage proves that greatness is measured not only in medals, but also in heart and character.
At Hardriven, we are extremely proud of their journey. Magalie and Alice are destined for great things, and their determination is a promise of more successes to come.
Congratulations, Magalie and Alice, for an inspiring and unforgettable season! 🌟🏐
